HIGH LIGHTS OF GUILIN

Situated on the west bank of the Li River and borders Hunan Province to the north, Guilin has long been renowned for its amazing landscapes of karst topography as one of China’s most popular tourist destinations.

Guilin is also a well-known historical and cultural city in China with a long history of more than 2100 years, which has left Guilin with a rich collection of historic and cultural sites, most of which have been placed under municipal protection.

Its name literally means "Forest of Sweet Osmanthus", owing to the large number of fragrant sweet osmanthus trees located in the city.

 

Climate of Guilin

Guilin has a tropical monsoon climate with abundant raindrop and ample sunshine. It enjoys ideal weather conditions characterized by longer frost-free periods and a clear distinction of four seasons. With an annual average temperature of 19.3℃,it's a comfortable place to live in. Its hottest month falls on July whose average monthly temperature is 28℃ and coldest month falls on January with an average monthly temperature of 7.9℃.

 

Transportation of Guilin

 A highly developed road network interlinks Guilin with the rest of Guangxi and neighboring provinces. Besides, high-speed trains put Guilin in direct and fast link with Beijing and key provincial capitals such as Nanning, Changsha, Wuhan, Zhengzhou and Shijiazhuang etc. Guilin is becoming an important traffic hub linking Northwest, Southwest and Southern China.

Guilin Liangjiang International Airport is located in the town of Liangjiang, Lingui District, about 26km from downtown Guilin. There are 104 air routes in total connecting 67 destinations, including 92 domestic routes, 9 international routes and 3 regional routes.

Major navigable rivers in Guilin include Li River, Guijiang River, Xiangjiang River, Luoqingjiang River, Zijiang River, Xunjiang River and Baishouhe River. Li River and Guijiang River are the two most important rivers with a total navigation length of 192 km.
