Daxu Ancient Town, a Time Traveling and Culture Experience

Situated on the east bank of the Li River, 23 km (14.3 miles) southeast of Guilin City, Daxu Ancient Town is a time-honored town with a history of more than 1000 years. It is such a cool experience like time traveling when strolling along the long and narrow blue flagstone paths with houses on both sides made of black brick and grey tile in the style of the Ming (1368-1644 A.D.) and Qing Dynasty (1644-1911 A.D.). Also to be found here are old-style workshops of bamboo weaving and shoe making, and you may even make toufu (bean curd) using 200-year old mills. The villagers there lead a slow-pace life and friendly inhabitants might invite you to visit their houses so you can have a close up view of these buildings.
