Bajiaozhai National Geopark, the Soul of Danxia Landform

Bajiaozhai National Geopark, covering an area of 125 square kilometers, is located in Ziyuan County, about 150km (93 miles) north of Guilin City. It’s renowned for its Danxia landform and is called “the Soul of Danxia Landform” by geological experts.

Danxia landform is a unique type of petrographic geomorphology found in China, formed from red-colored sandstones and conglomerates of largely Cretaceous age and characterized by steep cliffs. The Danxian landcape here is so different from the Karst landscape in other places of Guilin that it attracts more and more hikers and shutterbugs, stunned by its epic beauty, to come for an eye-opening tour.

Since it is situated in the boundary areas between Guangxi and Hunan provinces, when standing on top of its 814-meter main peak, you may admire the magnificent views of both provinces at the same time!
